A meeting was held with local residents to discuss land acquisition and resettlement procedures for the construction of a 17-kilometer access road and railway leading to the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, according to the Zugdidi Municipality City Hall.
The discussion was part of the land acquisition and resettlement plan being developed by the Roads Department of Georgia, which is overseeing the project.
Residents living in the affected area were briefed on property valuation and compensation processes. The meeting was attended by Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti State Representative David Verava, Acting Mayor of Zugdidi Besik Chezhia, and representatives of the Roads Department.
The Roads Department has already prepared a detailed project design for the new road and railway section.
According to the 2026 state budget draft, GEL 45 million will be allocated for the construction of the road, with an additional GEL 125 million planned for 2027.
