A new hydro power plant is being built on the Mtkvari River in Tbilisi. The name of the project is "Dighomi HPP", located in Digomi near Tbilisi Mall. The project is implemented by the company "Dighomi HPP" and its investment volume amounts to USD 23 million.
The installed capacity of the hydro power palnt will be 11.26 megawatt hours, and it will be quite similar to the Ortachala HPP located in the capital city of Tbilisi.
As of now, the hydroelectric station is in the active phase of construction. The height of the dam will be 10 meters. An artificial barrier has already been installed on the river Mtkvari, which will include one-half of the hydroelectric station.
The investor of the project LLC "Dighomi HPP" was founded in April 2019, its shareholders are businessman Tariel Giorgadze (35%); GMG Ltd (30%) and Electron Ltd. (35%). On the other hand, the founder and owner of company GMG is businessman Grigol Natroshvili, while LLC "Electron" is owned by Koba Gogatishvili, Malkhaz Gogatishvili (dual citizen of Georgia and Russia), Davit Kenchadze and Khvicha Porchkhidze (dual citizen of Georgia and Russia).
