A new park is set to be established in the area surrounding the former Parliament building in Kutaisi, as part of a broader redevelopment plan for the site. The Municipal Development Fund has launched a market survey to assess pricing, which will determine the budget for an upcoming tender to arrange the surrounding territory.

According to the announcement, the survey aims to estimate the procurement cost and define the qualifications required for bidders interested in participating in the future tender. The deadline for submitting proposals is August 11.

In parallel, the Innovation and Technology Agency has announced a GEL 9 million tender for internal renovations of the historic building. The works will focus on the first and second floors, with the tender process set to begin on August 13 and conclude on August 18.

As part of a 2024 pre-election project, the building is expected to be transformed into a Technopark, a space intended to promote innovation and technology development. Recently, the agency also announced a GEL 711,000 tender for high-tech equipment, including two robotic dogs, two humanoid robots, and other robotic systems.

The Kutaisi Parliament building has remained idle since 2016, when parliamentary sessions returned to Tbilisi. Due to years of disuse, the building’s infrastructure and internal systems, including heating, cooling, and electrical networks, have significantly deteriorated and now require comprehensive replacement.

These efforts signal a new chapter for the iconic structure, aiming to revitalize it as a hub for public engagement, innovation, and green urban development.
