Giorgi Abrahamishvili, Chairman of the Board of the Georgian Renewable Energy Development Association (GREDA), has confirmed that Vano Zardiashvili left his position as head of the Georgian State Electrosystem (GSE) voluntarily. He did not provide further details about the decision.

“He is currently on leave and will leave afterward,” Abrahamishvili said. Asked whether Zardiashvili’s resignation was linked to the State Audit Office report, he replied that he did not know. “I don’t know. I don’t think so. I don’t know the reason, and please don’t turn this into speculation,” he said.

According to BMG’s information, Zardiashvili submitted his resignation letter on August 31 and is currently on vacation. He was appointed Director General of the Georgian State Electrosystem in 2025. Before that, from 2021 to 2025, he served as GSE’s director responsible for legal, environmental, social, and permitting issues.

Zardiashvili had also been a member of GSE’s Management Board from 2020 to 2021 and served as First Deputy Director of LLC “Energotrans” in 2019-2020.
