The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has published its report on the second round of assessment of Georgia, evaluating the country's compliance with international standards in information exchange and transparency for payment purposes.
According to the report, Georgia's current legislation and practices align with international standards. The report particularly praises Georgia's progress in accessing banking information, noting the effectiveness of the legal framework and practices in this area.
The OECD report also commends the banking sector for its role in providing information on beneficial owners of companies and highlights the NBG’s supervisory framework for its effectiveness in combating money laundering and terrorism financing.
During the second round, the OECD initiated the assessment on March 10, 2023, conducting a comprehensive three-year study.
