The ruling party will respond to all the points that we discussed with Mr. Borrell and his team - everything will be done by us and there will be no reason for the country not to receive candidate status, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili said at today's government meeting.
According to him, Georgia deserves candidate status and not granting it "will be a very big mistake and injustice".
"Yesterday, we approved the action plan for de-oligarchization. Also, together with the Parliament, we agreed that the ruling party will respond to all the points that we discussed with Mr. Borrell and his team. We will do our best and this process will be completed by the end of the week, at most, the month. Everything will be done from our side. There is no reason, and there will never be, for the country not to receive the status. This would be a very big mistake and injustice, which we will not accept. Georgia deserves the EU candidate status! We especially deserve it compared to Ukraine Moldova. We all know what is happening in these countries. We are not begging anyone, but we are asking for a deserved status, especially considering the geopolitical reality in the region and the results and achievements that our team has," said the Prime Minister.
