Additional rail services to operate on Baku–Tbilisi route from 1 November

Azerbaijan Railways will operate four daily passenger services on the Baku–Tbilisi–Baku rail link starting 1 November 2026, according to reports in the Azerbaijani press.

The expansion will increase total daily passenger capacity on the cross-border route from 386 to 564 seats, which makes a near 50% boost in passenger volume.

Minimum one-way fares from Baku to Tbilisi will start at 54 Azerbaijani manats (AZN) (approx. GEL 83). Intermediate single fares are set at:

  • Yevlakh to Tbilisi: AZN 44 (approximately GEL 68)
  • Ganja to Tbilisi: AZN 41 (approximately GEL 63)
  • Agstafa to Tbilisi: AZN 38 (approximately GEL 58)
  • Boyuk Kasik to Tbilisi: AZN 36 (approximately GEL 55)

By comparison, entry-level fares on the existing premium Stadler sleeper carriages currently stand at AZN 77.50 (GEL 118) from Baku to Tbilisi and AZN 56.80 (GEL 87) from Ganja.

Tickets for the new services go on sale from 2 October 2026, offering passengers a choice between daytime and overnight departures.

According to the existing overnight service, Baku to Tbilisi departs the Azerbaijani capital daily at 23:00, arriving in Tbilisi at 08:41 the following morning, while Tbilisi to Baku departs Tbilisi at 11:00, arriving in Baku at 20:26 the same evening.

New Daytime Service:

  • Baku to Tbilisi: Departs Baku daily at 09:10, arriving in Tbilisi at 19:11;
  • Tbilisi to Baku: Departs Tbilisi at 22:00, arriving in Baku at 07:57 the following morning

To purchase tickets online via the Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) website or mobile app, domestic passengers must verify their personal accounts through MyGov ID using their FIN code. Foreign nationals can complete registration by selecting their country of origin and supplying a valid mobile phone number.
