The government of Georgia’s Adjara Autonomous Republic will allocate GEL 3.5 million from its reserve fund to assist 267 families affected by natural disasters and fires across Batumi, Kobuleti, Khelvachauri, Keda, Shuakhevi, and Khulo municipalities.
According to the regional government, the assistance will support households whose homes were destroyed or rendered uninhabitable by natural disasters such as heavy rainfall, strong winds, or flooding during 2025–2026. Eligibility is limited to families that do not own or possess alternative housing.
Disaster-affected families will receive funding based on reconstruction cost estimates and their social vulnerability scores, with support covering between 80% and 100% of eligible costs, capped at GEL 20,000. Families whose homes were completely destroyed by fire will receive a one-time payment of GEL 25,000, while partially damaged properties may qualify for up to GEL 20,000 in restoration assistance.
The funds will be transferred to municipalities, which will sign agreements with beneficiaries to ensure targeted use of the aid. The GEL 3.5 million package is in addition to previous allocations, with Adjara having already directed nearly GEL 8 million to 704 disaster-affected families in 2025 and more than GEL 4 million to 352 households so far in 2026.
