Zurab Kitoshvili, general director of Geo Hospitals declares, that the nursing profession faces acute problems, because the workforce drain is high and the sector mostly has an aging nursing workforce.
“Major part of the nurses is in the pension age and it is another problem and challenge. In addition, workforce drain is high and they start working in competing industries. There are many reasons, but the most important is low salary. Of course, it is fundamentally important to increase salaries, and in this regard, we are gradually working on the introduction of a bonus scheme at Geo Hospitals," said Zurab Kitoshvili.
According to him, it is necessary to create the right motivation to strengthen the field and make more young people interested in the nursing profession.
Giorgi Mindiashvili, General Director of Evex Hospitals declares that the nursing sector is a cornerstone of the healthcare sector and there is no such systemic problem in any field of medicine.
"I have promised my employees and myself that I will do everything to overcome the nursing problem in the country," said Giorgi Mindiashvili.
According to him, 10 times fewer nurses graduate from the school than the Georgian healthcare system needs during the year.
