“We have announced that a joint company founded by railways of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan would be established in Georgia to serve cargos from China. We signed this agreement within the framework of the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum. The agreement will contribute to the Middle Corridor development and coordination,” said Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.

As the Minister remarked, another agreement signed with Qatar is also significant for the employment of sailors.

“This will allow Georgian sailors to have their qualification recognized by the state of Qatar, which has the largest fleet of Georgians and will open new employment opportunities,” he said.

Founded by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in 2015, Tbilisi hosts the Silk Road Forum for the fourth time. Tbilisi Silk Road Forum features more than 2,000 delegates and guests from 60 countries.

The event includes ten thematic panel sessions and parallel discussions on crucial trade, economic, and connectivity topics.
