The Ministry of Agriculture does not yet know whether the state will subsidize Harvest 2024. Yuri Nozadze, Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, declared in response to BM.GE's question.
He considers that subsidy is not good, the industry should not need subsidy.
"I can't say [whether there will be subsidies], although our goal is that wine-making companies do not need subsidies. It has not been decided yet. Our goal is to support winegrowers-farmers, however, if there is a need, we will enter with a subsidy. Subsidy is certainly not good. The industry should not need subsidies", said Yuri Nozadze.
In 2023, 25 million was spent from the Georgian budget for grape subsidies. In recent years, the state has spent a record amount of GEL 138 million on vintage subsidies in 2021.
