AgriTouch Introduces Innovative AgriTech for Data-Driven Orchard Management

აგრითაჩი

Georgian agri-consulting company AgriTouch is implementing cutting-edge agrotechnology in its own orchard, with plans to offer the service to other farmers. Founder Ekaterine Vepkhvadze told BM.GE that the technology uses special scanning devices and sensors combined with artificial intelligence to collect detailed data on each plant, providing insights on tree health, growth, and yield potential.

The system enables farmers to make data-driven decisions, moving beyond intuition-based management. Vepkhvadze explains that it allows for precise yield forecasting, planning of harvest periods, and continuous monitoring of plant development. It can also detect early signs of disease, stress, or weak plants, helping to reduce losses and improve operational efficiency.

A key benefit of the technology is its environmental sustainability, as it allows for targeted use of pesticides and fertilizers only where needed, rather than applying uniform doses across the entire orchard. This helps reduce chemical usage while maintaining crop health. The technology reportedly predicts yields with up to 97% accuracy per plant, supporting better planning and resource optimization.

While the company did not disclose the exact investment amount, Vepkhvadze emphasized that implementing such technology in Georgia requires significant financial resources. Initially, the system will be applied to blueberry plantations, but AgriTouch plans to expand its use to other crops in the future, aiming to modernize Georgian agriculture with a data-driven approach.
