Air Georgia has signed a memorandum with Albanian investors for the development of a new passenger terminal near Tbilisi International Airport, according to the airline’s founder, Giorgi Kodua.
Kodua said the Albanian Kastrati Group plans to invest at least $150 million in Georgia, with the potential for a larger investment depending on the project’s needs. The group is considering not only the terminal but also fuel facilities, services and other infrastructure projects.
The planned terminal would operate as a hub, with direct connections to destinations such as New York, Tokyo and Singapore. Kodua said Air Georgia has discussed the project with the United Airports of Georgia and received confirmation that the terminal would not conflict with the government or TAV Georgia’s operations.
The airline currently has land near the airport but needs additional property to reach the planned six-hectare site. Kodua said the next step is to sign a joint agreement with the Albanian investors and meet with the Georgian government to discuss the project in detail.
