The Akhtala resort was confiscated from the businessman David Khidasheli's company "Global Victory Georgia". Khidasheli purchased Akhtala in June 2018 at a public auction for 3.76 million GEL.
According to the terms of the auction, Khidasheli had to build a 120-room hotel complex on the territory and invest at least 12,000,000 GEL in the project. However, Khidasheli did not fulfill this condition.
The rehabilitation of the Akhtala resort was to be completed in 2022, although last year the investor company requested the National Property Agency to postpone it until 2024, citing the pandemic as the reason. However, even after the postponement, the privatization conditions were not fulfilled.
BMG has asked the Ministry of Economy about the amount of the fine imposed on the investor for the unfulfilled project.
On March 20, it became known that a fine of 499,500 GEL was imposed on David Khidasheli and he was deprived of resort Libani.
David Khidasheli purchased the resort "Libani" in March 2021 and was supposed to build a 70-room hotel in it with an investment of 8 million GEL, however, the investment conditions were not fulfilled.
Khidasheli still owns 2 properties purchased from the state, "Rikis Dokebi", which Khidasheli purchased in March 2022 for 10 million GEL. Khidasheli was supposed to invest 20 million GEL in this facility, however, the development of this project did not take place either.
