Law enforcement officers serving in external service in the police forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia are set to receive a significant increase in their monthly allowance.
The allowance amount will be increased from 20,000 drams ($50) to 70,000 drams ($180). This project of the corresponding decision is included in the agenda of the government meeting scheduled for April 11.
According to information provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the monthly remuneration for the commander of a platoon within the officer corps of the police forces with a service experience of 15 to 20 years will increase to 384,000 drams (approximately $1000).
Additionally, the allowance for the commander of a battalion special purpose unit will be increased to 349,000 drams ($900).
Furthermore, the salary of the commander of a battalion special purpose unit at the Police Department of the city of Yerevan with a service experience of 15 to 20 years will be 404,000 drams ($1050), while that of the platoon commander will be 330,000 drams (approximately $900).
According to the justification of the decision, such an increase in the allowance corresponds to the provisions of the government program for a comprehensive review of the remuneration of police officers.
It is also aimed at balancing their differentiated sizes in perspective and discussing the establishment of additional social security guarantees for police officers.
