Alshaya Group, the franchise operator behind Starbucks' entry into Georgia, is planning long-term investments in the country and has expressed interest in bringing additional international brands to the market, according to Tornike Sulaberidze, Deputy Head of Georgia's Investment Agency.
Sulaberidze said Starbucks' launch through Alshaya Group sends a positive signal to other global investors and brands, adding that the company views Georgia as one of its priority markets in the region. "This is only the first step. Alshaya Group has shown strong interest in Georgia and plans long-term operations and investments here," he said.
He noted that the Kuwaiti group, which manages a portfolio of more than 70 international brands, is currently focused on expanding Starbucks locations in Georgia, while discussions on introducing other brands remain at an early stage.
According to Sulaberidze, Georgia's economic growth, rising GDP per capita and improving purchasing power have made the country increasingly attractive for international retailers and foreign investors.
