Amendments are being introduced to the Law of Georgia on Political Unions of Citizens, according to which political parties and individuals with declared electoral goals will no longer be able to organize lectures, seminars, or other similar public events with the support of foreign organizations.

The initiation of these amendments took place at today’s Bureau meeting.

According to the draft, international organizations will no longer have the opportunity to organize lectures, seminars, and other public events for political parties.
Under the current law, political parties are prohibited from receiving donations from individuals who are not Georgian citizens and from legal entities or other types of associations registered in Georgia or abroad, except for the free organization of lectures, seminars, or similar public events.

According to the current law, the restrictions do not apply to international organizations and those legal entities whose purpose is the institutional development of parties, which is not related to supporting or refraining from supporting any political force.

The Georgian Dream faction initiated the amendments.
