American Association of Wine Economists (AAWE) has published its review on Georgian wine exports. AAWE notes that Russian Embargo helped Georgian wine producers to diversify their export markets.
"Although Russia is still the most important export market for Georgian wine, the Russian ban on Georgian wine imports, from March 2007 through early 2013, helped to diversify Georgian export markets,"- is stated on AAWE facebook page.
AAWE has also posted an image from Russian newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda that urges Russian citizens to avoid drinking Georgian alcoholic beverages.
"A poster attached to the May 5, 2006, issue of the Russian newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda calling the reader not to drink Georgian wines. It reads in Russian: «Уважай себя и Родину – не пей грузинское вино!», transl: "Respect yourself and the Motherland - Don't Drink Georgian Wine!"
