Amiran Gamkrelidze, the head of the National Center for Disease Control declares that Georgia does not have shortage of health care staff in the country.
According to him, there are about 31,000 doctors and 19,000 nurses in the country.
"I have checked and some doctors hold 2-3 positions, but their total number is about 31,000, which can potentially be used during a pandemic. Some of them are not working and some are retired. It is desirable that all doctors to be trained and receive information on how to manage coronavirus," said the head of the NCDC.
However, earlier Amiran Gamkrelidze has noted in a bid to create a reserve of medical staff, the senior medical students will be trained. As announced, those students will be involved in the medical management of coronavirus in the case of need.
