The Anti-Corruption Bureau has initiated an examination of former Georgian Parliament member Mamuka Khazaradze’s asset declaration in connection with a rental agreement with German Ambassador, the bureau announced in a statement citing high public interest.
According to the statement, the monitoring aims to determine the accuracy of information presented in the declaration and its compliance with Georgian legislation.
“Of particular interest is the question of why an agreement signed between a member of Mamuka Khazaradze’s family and the German Ambassador was not reflected in the declaration. It is important to establish whether the contract concealment was intentional, whether it relates to an attempt to hide income, and how much this action complies with legal obligations,” the statement reads.
The bureau also indicates that “circumstances related to donations declared by Mamuka Khazaradze are being examined to create a complete picture regarding potential political corruption risks.”
“Additionally, the bureau continues permanent monitoring of political parties’ financial activities, which includes assessing the legality of donations. In this context, circumstances related to donations declared by Mamuka Khazaradze are being studied to create a complete picture regarding potential political corruption risks.
We will provide the public with additional information about monitoring results in stages,” the statement concluded.
