The Anti-Corruption Court of Armenia has ruled to confiscate over 1.286 billion drams (more than $3 million) from the daughter and son-in-law of one of the country's wealthiest individuals, Gagik Tsarukyan. The ruling also includes the seizure of property, which consists of two real estate assets and a claim right amounting to $264,000.
According to the court's decision, presided over by Judge Narine Avagyan, former Kotayk Governor Karapet Guloyan and his wife, Roza Tsarukyan, will lose 9177 out of 10,000 shares of property in the village of Arinj and on Tandzakhpur Street in Tsaghkadzor. Additionally, a plot of land, 2000 shares of ACBA Bank, and a claim for an unreturned loan amounting to $264,000 will be confiscated.
Furthermore, Karapet Guloyan will be required to pay over 1 billion drams (more than $2.5 million) to the state.
The court's decision will come into effect one month after publication and can be appealed in the Appellate Anti-Corruption Court within this period, according to the Anti-Corruption Committee.
Earlier, BMG reported that more than 100 cases of confiscation of illegally acquired property worth over $1.3 billion are currently under consideration in Armenia.
