The Revenue Service denies the reports that the customs procedures have been changed by Georgia and enforcement of international sanctions has begun only now, which provides for the importation of expensive vehicles into the Russian Federation and Belarus.

According to the Revenue Service, from the day of the imposition of the 4th package of international sanctions, any types of goods that are included in the list of sanctions have been subject to strict customs control by Georgia.

"Today, another lie and misinformation related to Georgia's implementation of international sanctions was spread by one of the TV companies - as if Georgia has changed its customs procedures and the country has only just started to implement international sanctions relating to the exporrt of expensive cars into the Russian Federation and Belarus.

The Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance explains to the public once again that no changes have been made in customs regulations and both transit, export and re-export are carried out in full compliance with international rules and regulations, and there is no evidence to the contrary.

In order to provide objective information to the public, we explain that in connection with the military actions of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, the European Union, together with the United States of America and the G7 member states, adopted the 4th package of sanctions on March 15, 2022, which prohibited the export of luxury goods, including luxury cars and motorcycles, from the mentioned countries to the Russian Federation and Belarus.

From the day of the imposition of the 4th package of sanctions - any types of goods, including light cars/motorcycles, which are included in the list of sanctions by the countries participating in the sanctions, have been subject to strict customs control by Georgia”, reads the statement.
