Armenia accounted for nearly two-thirds of brandy shipments to Russia in 2023

In 2023, Armenia became the main supplier of brandy to Russia, accounting for approximately 62% of the total volume of imports of this beverage. This was reported by Igor Aleshin, the head of Rosalcoholcontrol, while presenting a presentation in the Federation Council, according to Interfax.

According to him, other major suppliers of brandy to Russia were Georgia, whose share was 22.5%. France took third place with a share of 7.4%, and Spain took fourth place with 2.8%.

The presentation also notes that in 2023, Russia imported a total volume of alcoholic beverages amounting to 102 million decaliters, which is 6.5% more than the previous year. The import of marked alcohol increased by 5.4%, reaching 60 million decaliters, while unmarked alcohol increased by 8% to 42 million decaliters.

More than half of whiskey imports to Russia (53.9%) came from Great Britain. The USA and Ireland also held significant shares, accounting for 13.8% and 10.5% respectively.
