French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu described the signing of a contract for Armenia's acquisition of CAESAR self-propelled howitzers as a significant new milestone.

"France continues to strengthen its defense relations with Armenia. Warm and productive discussions with my Armenian counterpart Suren Papikyan on the sidelines of the Eurosatory exhibition," Lecornu wrote on X.

The CAESAR is a 155mm self-propelled artillery system developed and manufactured by the French firm Nexter.

It was previously reported that during a working visit to France on June 17, an agreement on military-technical cooperation was signed between the Armenian Ministry of Defense and the French defense company KNDS.

At the end of 2023, it was reported that France would supply Armenia with 50 Bastion armored vehicles (24 of which have already arrived in the country, with the rest in production), and would also consider the supply of CAESAR artillery systems and MISTRAL 3 missile systems.
