Representatives of the jewelry industries of Armenia and Iran have discussed the potential for creating joint ventures and export programs. The high-level meeting included leaders of industry associations and Armenia’s Ministry of Economy.
On December 16, Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Economy Edgar Zakaryan met with an Iranian delegation headed by Mohsen Talay Minayi. Minayi serves as the Executive Director of the Gold and Jewelry Export Consortium of Isfahan and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Gold, Jewelry, Silver, and Gemstone Exporters and Producers of Isfahan Province.
The meeting focused on opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the jewelry sector, including the establishment of joint production facilities and the export of finished products to international markets. The Armenian side expressed its readiness to develop and implement collaborative programs.
According to Armenia’s Statistical Committee, as previously reported by BMG, the jewelry sector is currently experiencing a downturn. During the first ten months of this year, jewelry production in the country decreased by 28.1% compared to the same period last year, amounting to approximately $93 million.
