Armenian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan held strategic discussions in the United Kingdom with representatives of leading think tanks on implementing Armenia's demographic strategy for 2024–2040.
During his working visit, the minister met with senior representatives of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) and the Alison Institute at the University of Oxford. Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Davit Khachatryan also participated in the meetings.
Key participants in the discussions included Benedict Macon-Cooney, Chief Policy Strategist and member of TBI's executive leadership, Nicholas Dunay, TBI’s Regional Director for Southern and Eastern Europe, and Ines Hassan, Director of Health and Economic Policy at the Alison Institute.
The central focus of the talks was Armenia’s strategy to improve its demographic situation for the period of 2024–2040. The parties agreed to develop and implement pilot projects in two key areas of the strategy: reducing premature mortality and promoting active longevity.
A detailed action plan for these initiatives is expected to be developed in the near future.
