The Food Safety Inspection Body of Armenia has issued an official statement denying the circulating information about alleged obstacles to the export of agricultural products to the Russian Federation. The agency called this information "complete disinformation."

According to the inspection body, the control of exported fruits and vegetables is carried out on a regular basis. Samples from each batch of products are taken for laboratory testing to detect harmful quarantine organisms. Due to the seasonal increase in export volumes, laboratories are operating without weekends to expedite the inspection process.

The agency explained that harmful quarantine organisms do not pose a direct threat to human health but can harm the agriculture of the importing country. Similar control measures are applied to products imported into Armenia.

The inspection body emphasized that after passing control and obtaining a biosanitary certificate, trucks with products quickly cross not only the Armenian border but also the Georgian-Russian border checkpoint "Upper Lars."

The export ban applies only to a small percentage of shipments in which harmful quarantine organisms are detected. It is noted that in the first half of 2024, the number of biosanitary non-compliances in exported shipments significantly decreased compared to 2023.

In conclusion, the agency stated that there are no significant difficulties with exports to Russia and other countries, and strict control has contributed to the increase in export volumes.
