Membership in the European Union will undoubtedly bring significant benefits to Armenia, but the question lies in how to achieve this goal. This was stated by Arman Yeghoyan, a deputy from the ruling faction and head of the National Assembly's Committee on European Integration, during hearings on a referendum for applying for EU membership.

The hearings were organized by four extra-parliamentary forces: the "For the Republic" party, the European Party of Armenia, the "Republic" party, and the "Free Citizen" civic organization, united under the "Platform of Democratic Forces."

At the start of the hearings, the head of the main committee emphasized that the goal of the event was to obtain expert opinions on the methods, timelines, and tools of integration.

“European integration is a multi-stage process that includes a variety of measures and steps. The question is not whether EU membership is beneficial. It is clear that for small countries, it is definitely advantageous. Such countries contribute relatively little but receive much more in return. The question is what steps Armenia should take to reach this goal, with which tools, and within what time frame,” noted Arman Yeghoyan.

It is worth mentioning that on March 13, the European Parliament adopted a resolution proposing to consider granting Armenia candidate status for EU membership.

Earlier, in an interview with the Turkish television channel TRT World, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that, given all the challenges Armenia has faced over the past three to four years, new opportunities, including the prospect of EU membership, are being actively discussed in the country.
