The Food Safety Inspection Body has banned the import of several types of halva produced by the Russian company "Timosha" into Armenia.

According to the press service of the inspection body, the reason for this decision, made on April 16, was the failure of several types of halva from this company to meet safety requirements.

"After conducting an inspection at "Mega Food" LLC and taking samples of halva for laboratory testing, it was found that the specified products did not meet the cadmium requirements established by the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union," the statement said.

Following the identification of these violations, the inspection body issued an order to prohibit the sale, recall, destruction, or disposal of the products from the market.

Considering that it will take some time to recall these products from all retail outlets, the inspection body recommends that consumers refrain from purchasing these dangerous food products.

It is noted that a letter regarding the presence of hazardous substances in these products was also received from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus.

Earlier, the Armenian parliament stated the need to consider the possibility of banning the supply of dairy products from Russia in response to similar actions by the Russian side. Member of the ruling faction of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's "Civil Contract" Sisak Gabrielyan made such a statement.

Rosselkhoznadzor asked the Armenian veterinary service to suspend the supply of dairy products to Russia from April 5, 2023, due to the inability of the Armenian veterinary service to guarantee the safety of the dairy products produced for Russian recipients.
