According to data from the UN Comtrade platform and open statistics, Armenia has become one of the countries that have substantially increased their footwear exports to Russia since 2021.
Alongside Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Serbia, and the USA have also entered this list, as reported by RIA Novosti.
By the end of 2023, the largest footwear suppliers to Russia were China, Italy, and Turkey. However, the data showed that several countries, including Armenia, significantly increased their footwear shipments to the Russian market.
According to the analysis, China led in footwear shipments last year, amounting to $3.4 billion. Italy and Turkey followed with supply volumes of nearly $306 million and $154 million, respectively.
Among the countries that notably increased their footwear exports to Russia was Armenia, with shipments totaling $33 million.
Еarlier, BMG reported that Russia maintained its leadership in Armenia's foreign trade turnover in 2023, exceeding $7.3 billion. Meanwhile, Armenia's exports to Russia reached $3.4 billion, while imports exceeded $3.9 billion.
In January-February of the current year, trade turnover with Russia doubled compared to the same period last year, reaching $2.1 billion.
