In 2022, Armenia may record the highest economic growth over the last 15-20 years, Minister of Finance Tigran Khachatryan said today, presenting the 2023 draft budget to the parliament.
Describing the economic indicators of the current year as 'unprecedented', the minister noted that at the end of the year the real growth could reach 13-14%.
"As a result, GDP could exceed $19 billion, while per capita GDP amount to $6,500," he said, adding that the per capita GDP could record growth of $1,800 as opposed to the past year
Accoridng to the official statistics, Armenia's economic activity in the first 9 months of 2022 was up 14.1% from the same time span of 2021
"As a result the government collected more revenues than projected and is able not only to finance the expenses planned for this year, but also to allocate additional funds for new social, economic and defense projects, as well as to speed up the process of reaching the goals of the five-year government program," Khachatryan said.
Armenian government's initial growth projection for 2022 is 7%, while inflation is set at 4% (±1.5%).
In September, the Central Bank of Armenia revised its growth forecast to 12.9% and inflation forecast to about 10%, ARKA reports.
