Egypt's Ambassador to Armenia, Serenade Soliman Gamil, held a meeting with a delegation from the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Armenia (UIEA) on October 24, according to the UIEA press service.
During the meeting, representatives of the UIEA, which currently chairs the Business Council of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC), outlined the organization’s primary goals and objectives, as well as its role in the economic integration of the region.
Artur Ghazaryan, Head of Programs at UIEA and Acting Secretary of the BSEC Business Council, proposed the initiative to offer discounts on cargo transit through the Suez Canal for BSEC member countries. According to him, this proposal aims to boost regional cooperation programs and deepen economic integration.
Ambassador Gamil welcomed the initiative and expressed readiness to present this proposal to the relevant authorities in her country.
The meeting also discussed prospects for bilateral economic cooperation between Armenia and Egypt. Key areas for collaboration were identified, including agriculture, tourism, pharmaceuticals, and construction.
Ambassador Gamil noted that despite strong political relations between the two countries, the economic potential of their cooperation remains only partially realized. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between the business communities of Armenia and Egypt and agreed to expand contacts between business entities in both countries.
