On October 17, Armenia's Parliamentary Commission on Economic Affairs approved new regulations aimed at tightening control over the circulation of goods. The new rules will require the use of special codes for goods during sales, and for some products, labeling information will also need to be provided.

Artur Manukyan, Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee, explained that these regulations will help better monitor goods being imported into or produced in Armenia.

According to him, the implementation of these changes will be gradual, as special software needs to be developed for the automatic generation of codes from import declarations.

Manukyan emphasized that the new system will enable tracking goods down to individual units and will aid in combating the shadow economy. It's important to note that the changes will primarily affect large businesses and will not impact the operations of small retail outlets.
