On Monday, January 15, 2025, the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Russian Ambassador Sergey Kopyrkin to deliver a note of protest. The move was prompted by statements made during the January 12 broadcast of the program Vesti Nedeli on Russian state television.

According to Armenia’s Foreign Ministry, the broadcast included artificially generated remarks aimed at undermining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia. In response, the Armenian side formally lodged its protest by handing the ambassador an official note.

This diplomatic démarche highlights growing tensions in Armenian-Russian relations, particularly regarding how Armenian issues are portrayed in Russian state media. The incident underscores the ongoing challenges in the bilateral relationship between the two nations, traditionally regarded as strategic partners.
