Armenia's Minister of High-Tech Industry, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, announced a significant expansion of state orders in the country's military-industrial complex (MIC). According to him, contracts totaling approximately $428.6 million have been signed to date.

In an interview with Public Television, Hayrapetyan revealed the details: "The Armenian Ministry of Defense has signed 52 three-year contracts with 27 domestic manufacturers. The total value of these contracts has reached $428.6 million, and this figure continues to grow."

The production program covers a wide range of armaments, including various types of weapons, control systems with advanced technological solutions, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), shells, and other military equipment.

Despite the significant investments, Hayrapetyan noted the limitations in human resources and military-technological achievements necessary to ensure the competitiveness of the Armenian army. He emphasized the importance of innovative and technological solutions being developed through research and development activities.

"The military industry of Armenia has great potential and is becoming one of the key sectors of the economy," the minister added.

Currently, 60 companies are registered in Armenia’s defense industry sector, employing around 2,500 specialists. Hayrapetyan also mentioned an active military industry development program and plans to draft a corresponding strategy in the near future.
