Armenian airlines carried over 900,000 passengers in 2022, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a meeting with President Vahagn Khachaturyan.
He said ensuring the operation of Armenian airlines was one of the government’s political obligations. According to him, Armenian airlines account for about 25 percent of the market.
Pashinyan said also that about 200 new jobs were created in the aviation sector during 2022.
"Many high-class pilots, who were born and raised in Armenia but did not have jobs in Armenia and only would come here on vacation, are now working in Armenia and can also spend their vacations in their homeland," Pashinyan said.
According to the Civil Aviation Committee, 10 local airlines are operating in Armenia today, and one more airline is expected to start operation before the end of the year. Flights to and from Armenia are operated by 35 airlines to 45 destinations, ARKA reports.
