Air carriers registered in Armenia risk losing the right to operate flights to Moldova due to new aviation restrictions. According to NewsMaker, Moldova’s Ministry of Infrastructure has drafted a proposal to ban the operations of several foreign airlines from various countries.

The draft document, aimed at harmonizing national legislation with European Union regulations, is open for public consultation until January 9. Along with Armenia, the list of countries whose airlines may face restrictions includes Russia, Iran, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tanzania, Congo, Libya, and Sudan. FlyOne Armenia, a subsidiary of the Moldovan low-cost carrier FlyOne, may also fall under the ban.

However, Armenian airlines have an opportunity to retain their flight rights to Moldova. To do so, they must operate aircraft leased on a wet-lease basis from companies not subject to the restrictions, provided they comply with all safety standards.
