On June 26, the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Armenia Vahe Hovhannisyan met with the Member of the Board (Minister) for Economy and Financial Policy of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Bakyt Sultanov.
During the meeting, they discussed issues related to the existing cooperation. The main focus was on the methodology for calculating the norms for the distribution of import customs duties among the budgets of the EAEU member states, as well as alternative mechanisms for calculating and distributing import customs duties, special, anti-dumping, and countervailing duties. Additionally, they discussed current agreements in the fields of auditing and accounting.
Minister Ovannisyan noted that Armenia's chairmanship in the EAEU bodies for 2024 requires additional efforts to ensure the best implementation of the economic cooperation agenda.
Armenia joined the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in January 2015.
Within the framework of the EAEU, the free movement of goods, services, capital, and labor is guaranteed, as well as the implementation of a coordinated or unified economic policy. These measures are defined by the Treaty on the EAEU dated May 29, 2014, and international agreements within the Union.
