Armenia's Minister of Finance, Vahe Hovhannisyan, presented a report on the state budget's performance for the first half of 2024 during a meeting of the parliamentary commission on financial-credit and budgetary affairs.
According to his statement, the country’s economy is experiencing mixed trends in the field of foreign trade.
From January to June 2024, the total volume of goods exported from Armenia increased by 2.3 times compared to the same period last year. However, this significant growth is primarily driven by re-exports.
Upon closer examination, it turns out that exports of goods of Armenian origin, excluding gold exports, actually decreased by about 4%. Regarding imports, Hovhannisyan noted an 86.5% increase. However, when excluding the impact of re-exports, imports show a 6.7% decline.
