Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan has announced the upcoming appointment of Arpine Sargsyan as Minister of Internal Affairs. The Prime Minister shared this news in a Facebook post addressed to the public.
Prior to this appointment, Sargsyan served as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.
This decision comes amid sweeping personnel changes in the country's leadership, initiated following Pashinyan's sharp criticism of the performance of law enforcement and judicial bodies on November 14.
In recent days, several key officials have been dismissed, including the Minister of Territorial Administration and the Chair of the Supreme Judicial Council. Additionally, Narik Zeynalyan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract Party, announced his resignation from parliament during this period.
Notably, Arpine Sargsyan will become the first woman in Armenia's history to head the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
