Armenia’s Prices for Food Products and Soft Drinks Up by 15.1% in August

Armenia’s prices for food products and soft drinks in August 2021 increased by 15.1% compared to August 2020, and by 0.6% compared to July 2021, according to the numbers, released by the National Statistical Committee (NSC).
 
The NSC said the growth was driven largely by a rise in the prices for meat, fish, and vegetables by 0.7-5.1%, ARKA reports. 

It said the prices for vegetables grew by 66.4% from August 2020 and by 5.1% from July 2021. Fish and seafood prices rose by 25.5% and 1.5% respectively.
 
Meat products increased in price by 9.9% from August 2020 and by 0.7% from July 2021. Particularly, pork price in August this year compared to August 2020 increased by 40.3% and compared to July this year - by 6.5%.

Prices for dairy products, cheese and eggs increased 12.2% compared to August 2020and by 0.4% compared to July 2021. Particularly, prices for eggs in August 2021 rose by 46.5% compared to August 2020 and fell by 1.2% compared to July 2021.

Tea, coffee, and cocoa prices in August 2021 rose by 0.2% from July 2021, while bakery products, cereals, and soft drinks - by 0.3%.
 
Alcoholic beverages and tobacco products in August 2021 increased by 9.3% compared to August 2020, and by 0.1% compared to July 2021. Fruits in August fell in price by 8.7% from August 2020 and by 1.5% from July 2020.
 
Cooking oils and fats in August of this year compared to August 2020 rose in price by 29.1%, and compared to July of this year fell by 3.5%. Price for sugar grew by 36.2% from August 2020 and fell by 1.5% from July 2021.

According to the statistics, prices for non-food products in August 2021 compared to August last year increased by 9.4%, and compared to July 2021 - by 0.4%.
 
In general, consumer prices in Armenia in August 2021 increased by 8.8% compared to August 2020, and by 0.4% compared to July 2021.
