The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Levan Davitashvili states that active works are carried out both in the direction of direct air traffic and free trade with the USA.
"Naturally, Georgia is doing its best to continue the negotiations on free trade between Georgia and America and make progress in this direction. Free trade with Georgia is possible, but we have to imagine that this is a very complex issue. Today, America does not have free trade negotiations with any country, it is not an easy matter. Here we are not talking about only one institution, we are talking about a complex one.
We had good meetings in Congress to get political support. The political establishment shares the position that this will play an important role in our relationship. We hope that we will make progress", said Levan Davitashvili.
As for air traffic, the Minister of Economy assures that there is close cooperation in this regard as well.
"We are working to get American airlines interested, although the pandemic period is difficult for the aviation market, and we understand that it will take some time, although this is a priority for both countries," the minister said.
