Georgia’s Civil Aviation Agency has issued its first certificate for an educational institution authorized to train ultralight aircraft pilot instructors. Aviation school “Mimino” has become the first organization approved to prepare pilots seeking instructor qualifications for Class 2 ultralight aircraft.

The agency said the certification process included a review of the school’s documentation, an inspection of its facilities, and an assessment of compliance with established requirements.

Mandatory certification requirements for pilot instructor training institutions came into force on May 1, 2026. The Civil Aviation Agency has introduced standards covering instructor training, flight experience requirements, and the necessary technical and educational resources.

Under the new rules, instructor training and retraining can only be conducted by institutions certified by the agency. Certified instructors will then be able to independently train and prepare student pilots wishing to fly ultralight aircraft.
