Avocado exports to Georgia almost doubled. During the first 9 months of this year, Georgia purchased 1,156 tons of fresh or dried avocados worth USD 2 million 020 thousand.
According to official statistics, the volume of exports increased by 83.1%, and the value by 88.7%. This is the highest rate in the history of avocado exports.
Georgia exports avocados only from 3 countries, the biggest supplier is the Netherlands. The ranking of the countries is as follows:
Netherlands - USD 1.8 million, 601 tons;
Turkey - USD 182 thousand, 511 tons;
Kenya - USD 33 thousand, 43 tons.
It should be noted that in 9 months of the current year, the rate of re-export of avocados from Georgia has also increased. During this period, 272 tons of avocados worth USD 921 million were exported from the country, while in January-September 2022, the value of these re-exported 129 tons of products amounted to USD 405 thousand.
In this case, Armenia was the only selling country both now and in previous years.
