AZA CARBON LLC receives Environment Permit for the Construction of a Petroleum Coke Calcining Plant in the Poti Free Industrial Zone of Georgia.
The Ministry of the Environmental Protection and Agriculture of the Republic of Georgia issued a permit to the company AZA Carbon LLC Georgia for the construction of a Petroleum Coke Calcining Plant on the territory of the Poti Free Industrial Zone.
According to the developed concept of the Project, it is planned to process 740 thousand tons of Green Petroleum Coke annually in two lines of the same capacity. The raw materials will be supplied from various refineries in Europe.
Calcined coke produced annually about 500 thousand tons is mainly used as raw materials for Anodes in Aluminum Electrolysis Process.
The growing global demand for the plant's product and the establishment of such production for the first time in the region are key factors in the Project's Feasibility.
The very High-Pressure steam generated in the plant shall be used to produce 70 MW of electricity. This Power shall produce 3 (three) miillion m3 of Green Hydrogen.
The total capital Investment for the Petroleum Coke Calcining Plant is about $ 300 million, the payback period is no more than 5 years from the date of startup. The Green Hydrogen Plant is in the process of being added in the complex.
The plant is beeing built under license from METSO OUTOTEC USA INC., the licensor of the world's most advanced calcination technology with maximum market share.
