Azerbaijan’s central bank sees 61% decline in loss

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) ended 2022 with 63.955 million manats ($37.62 million) in net loss, down 60.1% from the previous year, Report informs, citing the bank’s financial statement.

Interest income made up 221.02 million manats ($130.01 million) (+68.4%), interest expenses – 167.928 million manats ($98.78 million) (+0.9%), fee and commission income – 32.421 million manats ($19.07 million) (+58.25%), fee and commission expenses – 3.7 million manats ($2.18) (-3.5%), Other operating income – 30.357 million manats ($17.86 million) (+5.7 times), administrative and other operating expenses – 115.206 million manats ($67.77 million) (+44.8%), gain on recognition of financial liabilities – 59.042 million manats ($34.73 million) (+7.9 times), net lossess from debt securities at fair value through profit or loss – 92.846 million manats ($54.62 million) (+5.7 times), net lossess from disposals of securities measured at fair value through other comprehensive income – 29.906 million manats ($17.59 million) (-15.5%), impairment of debt securities at fair value through other comprehensive income – 776,000 manats ($456.470) (profit in 2021), net gains from derivative financial instruments – 23.863 million manats ($14.04 million) (+2.6%), net gains from investments in money market funds at fair value through profit or loss – 4.587 million manats ($2.7 million) (+34.5 times), net lossess from foreign exchange translation – 68.632 million manats ($40.37 million) (+13.8%), net gains from trading in currencies – 4.09 million manats ($2.41 million) (loss in 2021), recovery of impairment loss - 39.659 million manats ($23.33 million) (+2.2 times).

Net gains of the CBA from trading in currencies in 2022 amounted to 4.09 million manats ($2.41 million).

In 2021, the bank’s loss from trading in currencies stood at 935,000 manats ($550,000).
