The Keynote Panel of the Capacity Middle East event, which took place in Dubai (UAE) last week, included Ana Nakashidze, the Chief Executive Officer of AzerTelecom. The panel, titled “Is the current route diversity restructuring the Middle East cable map?”, also had representatives from various telecommunications companies.
The panelists discussed the growing need for diverse and resilient international connectivity, especially as internet resources become more vital with the rise of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and connectivity technologies.
Ana Nakashidze highlighted the impact of global and regional factors, as well as emerging technologies, on internet geography. She said that the Middle East and neighboring regions are seeking and exploring new ways and areas to connect. She added that the South Caucasus or middle corridor is becoming more relevant and actual for the Middle East traffic connectivity than ever. She also said that new projects in the region with increased scale would improve efficiency and attract more traffic to the route.
