Baku–Tbilisi–Baku Passenger Train Service Resumes Today After Six-Year Pause

Today, 26 May, regular passenger rail service on the Baku–Tbilisi–Baku route has resumed after a six-year hiatus.

The route will be served by Stadler-type passenger trains purchased by Azerbaijan Railways in recent years. According to the company, during the initial phase, the entire route will be operated using Azerbaijan locomotives.

Azerbaijan Railways reports that one hour is allocated for border procedures at each border crossing.

The trains between Baku and Tbilisi will run according to the following schedule:

Baku - Tbilisi: The train departed Baku at 23:10 and is expected to arrive in Tbilisi at 08:41 the following day.
Tbilisi - Baku: The train will depart Tbilisi at 21:00 and will arrive in Baku at 06:24 the next morning.

Stops:
In Georgia, the train will stop at Tbilisi and Gardabani stations.
On Azerbaijani territory, passenger boarding will be available at the following stations: Baku Railway Station, Bilajari, Yevlakh, Ganja, Agstafa, and Boyuk Kesik.

According to Azerbaijan Railways, the minimum ticket price for the full route—both from Baku to Tbilisi and from Tbilisi to Baku—will be 81 manat (approximately 127 GEL).

Ticket prices from stations located closer to the Georgian border will be lower, starting from 51 manat.
