“Belgium calls on the Georgian government to respect the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and of expression,” reads the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belgium.
“This week, the trial of journalist Mzia Amaglobeli has started in Georgia. Repressive actions against journalists and peaceful demonstrators are very worrying and are not in line with Georgia’s European and international commitments.
