BM.ge Exlcusive: Rustavi Metallurgical Plant to Stop Production
BM.ge has broken the story that the Rustavi Metallurgical Plan will halt production indefinitely. According to the agency, the first heater will be shut down in a week and the second will be shut down at the beginning of January. According to a trustworthy source of bm.ge, the company will stop work completely by the 15 th of January next year; this means 2000 people will lose their jobs. The reason behind the factory’s suspension of production is said to be the importation of reinforcing bars from Iran at dumping prices. The management of the company had been speaking about this publicly. In order to verify the information, Bm.ge contacted Rustavi Steel. However, no official comments have been made as of yet. It is worth noting that after Rustavi Steel spoke of the need for market protection mechanisms the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee of Parliament of Georgia began discussing adopting anti-dumping laws. As it is known, the draft law was developed by the Ministry of Economy 2 years ago, but the document has not yet been initiated into the parliament.
